Cadog (aka The Overlord): 2006-December 30, 2021
The worst part of pet ownership is the inevitable death of your pet. Last week I said farewell to my cat, aka The Overlord. She was nicknamed this due to her ruling over the household as cats do. And she was unmatched in her judgmental facial expressions, which were enough for her to convey her thoughts. She had expressions for: stupid human, walk around me, I want to sit there so move your crap, feed me again, I am not amused, go jump in a lake. She would, however, come when called and would come running if there was any activity in the house to see what was going on. Even in her last few hours she insisted on watching my husband and son assemble a bike and a DR Trimmer and sitting by the toolbox.
We had found her as a tiny kitten on our five acres in Florida, and kept her. She loved being in vehicles, and jumped into my unsuspecting husband’s car one day. He was halfway to work when she climbed onto the dashboard, so he had to turn around and bring her home. After that he always checked his car before leaving. The Overlord traveled close to 25,000 miles during her lifetime. When traveling we set up her litter box (which she had no issue using at 80 mph), water and food bowls. The minivan made it possible to arrange for her needs so we never boarded her. Her last big trip was in 2019 before the pandemic struck.
Sadly, her health began to decline the last couple of years, and last Thursday it was her time. The Overlord was a perfect match for our family, and we all miss her greatly. My two youngest children don’t know life without her; she had always been there since their earliest memories. I buried her on our new farm, nearly a thousand miles from where she became a part of our family.
I am so sorry. I lost my baby boy in 2020, and my dog as well. They are just as much a part of our lives as our human family. *hugs*
