Breyerfest Loot Arrived, Other News

All of my stuff finally arrived on Wednesday of the week before last. I’ve been behind on the blog due to multiple things happening, the most notable being this:

I just bought a farm. That is where my attention and energy has been focused for the last few weeks, along with some other non-model stuff. I have been trying to get this post onto the blog what feels like forever. Enough of that, let’s move onto the Breyerfest Loot!

I had two All-Access tickets as you probably recall, and had put the shhh!!! Secret Marwari, Uffington, and two Seven Arts Surprises on my master preference list (or whatever it was called).  I was fortunate to get the models I wanted. I got the shhh!!! Secret Marwari instead of the toupee Tassili, so that right there made me not care about whatever else I got. I adore the dark grey holographic Uffington, but I really like regular Uffington so no disappointment receiving the regular one. As for the Seven Arts Surprise, it’s the Dundee/Australian Stock Horse mold, which I don’t conga. I was hoping Destado would be the surprise mold, but he ended up being used for the volunteer model. The volunteer model is named Thornycroft, and is a liver chestnut rabicano. Seven Thornycrofts were glossed for the volunteer managers, and Breyer stated that the total number of Thornycrofts will be released later in the year. Here’s a photo of Thornycroft:

Oops, got a bit sidetracked with the Destado mold there. Anyway, I opened the Seven Arts Surprises and received two of the same color:

Yep, two matte rainbow decorators. Take a gander at the perfect pearly peachiness of Uffington:

More peachy perfection:

The shhh!!! Secret Marwari is a beautiful coppery color which is highlighted by the gloss:

Mine looks like he’s wearing black lipstick, ahahahahaha!!! I find this quite amusing, as it looks like my black lipstick. I haven’t worn it in quite awhile, though. Here is the shade Sleepwalker, by Black Moon Cosmetics:

See what I mean? Hilarious! I just wish the right side of his mouth had darker lipstick, lol. And yes, I am easy to amuse.

I also ended up buying the Best of Breyerfest Stablemates set. Originally I wanted only one from the set, but a couple of the others started to grow on me, so I impulse purchased it.

Next up are the two Kaleidoscopes. I wanted to order a couple more, but I decided against it so other people would have the opportunity to purchase Kaleidoscopes. I don’t think they ended up selling out Breyerfest weekend, but I’m content with the two I got. They are oh-so-pretty!

Here are the color wheel of the Horse of a Different Color models, minus the Surprise rainbows as I haven’t unwrapped them completely. They are still wearing their bubble wrap head and tail wraps.

The rest of the stuff I bought includes a tote bag, jersey dress, and stickers, I think. I just tossed those items back in their box since they’re not as exciting as models. I’ll pull them out at a later date.

Josie and the Stablemate Club’s Fourth Release

HmmmmHmmmmmhmmmmmhmm…(extended humming)… Let’s start off with Josie since she’s been waiting to make her appearance on the blog. Here she is on her beautiful cardboard box insert:

I also happen to have some flowers that match Josie’s background:

Here are the flowers in Josie’s background:

And now on to the unboxed Josie:

A close up of her left side:

In Stablemate Club news, the fourth release, Raider, is available to order.

Raider comes to life on the vintage Seabiscuit mold, which was originally sculpted for Hagen-Renaker by Maureen Love. The Seabiscuit mold was one of the first Stablemate molds introduced into the Breyer line. Raider is a glossy shaded liver frame overo. I have ordered one, but am holding back on ordering the second one as I am waiting to see if I can combine it with the upcoming Vintage Club model (I think it should be released soon).

Stay tuned as my Breyerfest loot has arrived! Details will be in the next post.

*Photos of Raider are from a Breyer email and from the website*

VIP Models Have Arrived

Friday evening the UPS dude sprinted up my driveway with a box as I was getting into my car. When I got home, I opened the box to find my VIP models. No variations in this order, which is perfectly fine. I was glad that I got the rainbow Pollock. I like the coruscating colors (Ha! Snuck in an alliteration!) better than the gold Pollock with rainbow spots. Knossos was my other SR choice, and rounding out the box were the Limited Editions of Favrile and Josie. Josie’s box was in rough shape; it looked like it was stomped or kicked or some such fiddle faddle. On to the horses!

First up is Pollock, in all of his vibrant glory:

Next we have Favrile, another colorful friend:

Here are the two of them together. Unfortunately Kaleidoscope hasn’t shown up yet, but hopefully will appear sometime this week. Then I will take photos of the three colorful ponies together.

I forget how big the Spanish Fighting Bull mold is. At some point I’d like to try to get the gold Knossos, but I am not at all disappointed with the regular Knossos. The brindle stripes are a bit too linear; I think if they’d been blurred slightly they’d look better. I am being overly picky, haha. His eyes are nicely done so I’ve put in a couple of close ups of his head.

Josie is still strapped in her box.  I plan to free her tomorrow, and there might be something coming from Breyer. Not exactly sure what since they seem to be sending orders out piecemeal. There is also a box scheduled for delivery on Thursday, so we’ll see what exactly shows up.

The Unicorn Chronicles: Reaching the Zenith

Lololololol, really have to *love* these lame titles. The Zenith we’re reaching for here happens to be a 2019 Web Special unicorn. This unicorn was done on the Classic/Freedom Series mold # 642, known as the Show Arabian. Introduced in 2008 as part of the ‘Best in Show’ series, the model came on a presentation base and had a mohair mane and tail, reminiscent of the early RRH (remade, repainted, haired) customs. Haired models have largely fallen out of favor, but a few decades back it was an integral part of customizing models. Happily, there is renewed interest in collecting these early customs as they are a part of the history of the model horse hobby. I personally like seeing the evolution of model horse customization— oh how far we have come over the years. Oh right, nostalgia later, unicorn NOW.

Zenith is worth gossiping (hahahaha!!!) about due to her color. Although she is certainly not the first ever purple unicorn, her purple is dark and muted compared with most Breyer unicorns. She has some pink on her, but it is a toned down shade to blend with the purple and gold. The gold on her is more subtle and not a screaming blingy statement. She has gold hooves, a gold horn, and some gold in her mane and tail. Her horn is a darker shade of gold than the gold used on the rest of her. Oh, and no glitter.

Notice the difference in the shade of gold between her forelock and horn:

Until next time, keep looking out for unicorns!
