Posterity Post: The Fourth Test Run Model of 2021

I think I am going to title all of the old news as Posterity Posts, lol. This test run was from around the middle of November. Zoinks, like a month, Scoob! In roughly three weeks’ time we will have turned over into 2022, so I need to get the 2021 stuff completed and up before then.

A fleabitten grey Black Stallion was chosen as the fourth test run of 2021 to be offered to Collectors Club members. This fellow was priced at $950 and a lottery draw determined the individual who would be able to purchase him. Breyer dates this test piece to the late 1990s or early 2000s, and he is speckled with black and brown fleabites:

However, this was not the first time the Black Stallion wore black and brown spots. As the Majestic Arabian Stallion (#811), he was painted as a “leopard appaloosa, white with black and brown splattered spots, black points” (Identify Your Breyer). This model was produced from 1989-1990. The black and brown spots on this model were exactly that—spots. The test model has dots, made tiny enough to mimic fleabites. Here is # 811, the Majestic Arabian Stallion:

It’s quite easy to see the size difference in the spots/dots between the two models. I would have bought the fleabitten Black Stallion if he had made it into the regular run line.
