Breyerfest Swag 2021

 

Breyer has posted a sneak peek of the swag they will be offering for Breyerfest. The swag includes the usual tee shirts, tote bag, water bottle, hat, keychain, umbrella, etc. The Breyerfest swag items can be seen here. It is important to note that all of these items will be dumped in the Breyer store on Friday morning at 10 am EDT, and there will NOT be any restocking of the swag items over Breyerfest weekend. Once the items are gone, they are gone. Other items which will not be restocked over the weekend include Prisma (the crystal horse), Pal’s Palette (the plush), and Kaleidoscope (Limited Edition Stablemate). This translates into a wild time to be had next Friday morning…not sure why Breyer thinks doing one dump is a good idea, but okay then. 

Hahaha, and y’all thought the piranha wouldn’t be back! *Ahem*  Returning to the swag items now, I like the jumper(?) dress thing, the Be Dani tee shirt, and the Team Glossy/Team Matte oval things. I’m not sure if the ovals are stickers or pins, but most likely they are pins. 

Now this really caught my attention. The images of Queen of Hearts (Josie) look blurred and have a tattered outline. With Josie’s unusual markings, she looks sort of like a zombie horse…I love it! I want to get something with this image on it:

The image will probably be sharper in real life, but I love the way this image looks. One week to go until Breyerfest!

The Breyer Bakery-Baking Another Batch?

Well, there is a brand of ice cream named Breyers, so why shouldn’t we have Breyer cupcakes? Plastic cupcakes, that is. I am referring to a Classic/Freedom Series model that came out in 2019. Using the Morgan Stallion mold, Breyer (not the ice cream brand) released Cupcake, which was generally regarded as an ugly, weird concept. Chocolate with sparkly pink frosting on the top of the horse, this guy was meant to appeal to mostly younger collectors.  

Cupcake is still current in Breyer’s line, and I was surprised that they released another cupcake style horse. Red Velvet was introduced as a 2021 midyear release, on the same mold but with a color scheme reflecting a red velvet cupcake. This guy has a deep, dark red lower half and an ivory frosting top finished with red sparkly decorations:

Apparently the original Cupcake proved to be popular, or I don’t think Breyer would have bothered to release Red Velvet. I wonder what sort of bakery treat they will come up with next. Raspberry danish? Bear Claw? Apple fritter? It will be interesting to see if Breyer continues the bakery concept. Dang it, now I want some scones…

Breyer Midyear Traditional and Classic Releases (Extra Super Late Edition!)

 

Uhhh…better late than never? Here’s a quick rundown of the traditional and classic midyear releases. With the exception of Thriller, the other three traditional releases are all portrait models. First up is KB Omega Fahim, a blue black Arabian stallion on the Shagya Arabian mold. 

Tiz the Law is a beautifully shaded bay Thoroughbred stallion debuting on the Lonesome Glory mold. 

Up next is WGC Marc of Charm, a champion American Saddlebred. This guy is presented on the Hamilton/Racking Saddlebred Stallion mold. 

 The Halloween Horse, Thriller, is on the Brishen/Gypsy Vanner mold. Thriller is a ghoulish grey with white streaks running through his mane, tail, and feathers. He is also graced with stitch marks, and parts of his skeleton show as though the sutures didn’t hold his skin closed and his wounds burst open. Thriller’s white streaks first made me (and other collectors) think of the Bride of Frankenstein. However, the exposed bones and the name Thriller goes into the zombie zone, and the description Breyer gives him is that of a zombie horse (“pawing his way up from his resting place in the earth…”). The bones and the Bride of Frankenstein streaks glow in the dark. Along with me, here’s someone for whom Thriller is a must have:

We also have three new Classic/Freedom Series midyear releases. First up is the Black Stallion Book Set, which includes a paperback copy of Walter Farley’s The Black Stallion and, of course, a model of The Black. The Black is given life (hilarious statement after a Zombie horse!) on the Malik mold, and I think it was great choice. I do plan on adding this one to my collection. 

Meet Red Velvet, a sweet (lol, pun!) addition to the line on the Mandrake/Morgan Stallion mold:

And last but not least is an unnamed buckskin quarter horse on the Standing Thoroughbred mold who comes as part of a stable set. On Breyer’s website it is called the ‘Deluxe Country Stable With Horse and Wash Stall.’ I am laughing at the inclusion of ‘wash stall’ in the title…it sounds like a cheesy real estate description adding on any amenity to make the property sound more attractive to prospective buyers.

Whew! Finally got these guys up, and I still need to publish a few more posts if I am to get caught up before Breyerfest…

Breyerfest 2021 Auction Models Lots 13-18, PC Fireheart Update, Breyerfest 2021 Event Program

 

Jumping straight to the most exciting item, the auction models! The final auction pieces for Breyerfest 2021 have been revealed!

I’m so excited about these models, and I won’t even be bidding on any of them, lol. Favorites from this batch of reveals are Fireheart, the Old Timer, Georg, and the Hamilton/Racking Saddlebred Stallion. Lot 14, the Old Timer, reminds one of Jake, the Breyerfest 2002 prize model (20 made):

I really like the red metallic paint on Lot 17, but I would have liked to have seen more of it on the model. There is a lot of white area, and as an auction piece it needs more pizazz (I get that Breyer was going for a Medicine Hat). I still really like him anyway, because I love the Georg mold. Now onto Lot 18 - wowza, the color! Oh how I wish he would be attainable in that color.  So my top 5 favorite auction models for Breyerfest 2021 are:

Breyer has provided a print version of this year’s program in addition to a digital one (which is on the website). The paper program is available for purchase to all ticket holders. It is $5.00 and ships free if it is ordered alone. I did order one to add to my never ending pile of Breyer paper things.

Breyerfest 2021 Auction Models Lots 7-12

 

OooooooOoooooooooOooooooooOoooooo!!! Lots 7-12 for the auction have been popped up on the Breyerfest Blog, and I have more favorites! Onward with the models first!

Lot 9 has knocked my socks off-well, if I had been wearing socks. The Altynai/Akhal-Teke mold looks stunning! I especially like the roached mane and wish Breyer had given Altynai the roached mane treatment. The Zebra, which is Lot 11, is in my top three favorites. I normally am an Othello/Wintersong fan, but I’m not feeling this one (Lot 7). I don’t care for the facial marking Breyer put on him, but his color is rich and deep. So, out of the twelve auction lots so far my top three favorites are ranked as:

1. Lot 9, glossy black bay Akhal-Teke

2. Lot 11, glossy electric blue colorshift zebra

3. Lot 5, glossy resist dappled copper Goffert

I expect that tomorrow we shall see more auction models for Breyerfest 2021!

Old Glory (…late)!

 

I had intended to get this up for the Fourth of July, but yeah, missed that deadline. But I suppose it’s not quite as bad as how late other things are, most notably the fact that the dual Hendriks and Nonoma (Vintage Club) still haven’t made an appearance on this blog after I received them. Oh, and the dual Tobiases. The same goes for the midyear releases announcement. Need to get them on here as well. I’m working on getting caught up, and I want to try to do it before Breyerfest weekend. So we shall see if I’m able to get it done. Anyway, on with Old Glory! 

Old Glory is a clearware red, white (clear) and blue model with the colors placed to represent the United States flag. Bold silver metallic stars and stripes wave in a motion to mimic the movement of the flag in the breeze. Here is the back of his box:

Old Glory has his own merch line, too. There’s a tote, enamel pin, t-shirts, mug, throw blanket and a beach towel. I think I got it all, but I may have missed an item or two.

Oh look- in the magnified circle is a wasps’ nest. It is astounding how fast those things can build and expand their nests. That nest is scheduled to be removed this week, and it makes me a bit uneasy while taking photos on the classy grill. At least it is not a Murder Hornet nest, right?

Returning to the topic of U.S. flag hued horses, Breyer released Patriot, a 2016 Limited Edition on the American Saddlebred Stallion mold. He too was a clearware model, and done in red, white (clear), and blue. The blue, however, dominates most of the horse, with the red and white being used sparingly. There are also stars on the hindquarters which flow towards the front of the horse, becoming less numerous and ending behind the elbow. 

Patriot had a mini-me produced in 2017 as part of the Stablemates Club on the Rivet mold, named Allegiance:

The predominantly blue clearware U.S. flag inspired horses continued with Illumination, a 2018 Limited Edition model on the Nokota mold. Illumination has somewhat faint fireworks decorating his body:

Another model to host a firework design but not for the Fourth of July is Times Square. As you’ve guessed by the name, Times Square is aligned with the New Year holiday. Produced as a 2007 Breyerfest SR, this semigloss black model is sprinkled with glittery multicolored fireworks for a festive look:

Since I missed getting this post up in a timely manner, Happy Belated Fourth of July! And just to be safe, since I’ll probably still be behind when the New Year rolls around, have an extra-super-early Happy New Year 2022!
