The Holiday Pony Playset (# 712425) was a totally unexpected, purely impulse buy. Maybe it was the antler hat, or the matchy-matchy blanket and pajamas, or maybe, just maybe, it was the pony. We need to talk about the pony. She debuted in the 2019 Premier Club as Rhian, a dapple grey Welsh mare (along with Cadell, her foal). I was excited waiting for her to arrive, and when she did, I wasn’t as enthusiastic. Her head seemed blocky or something (can’t quite pin it), and she had absolutely terrible chickenwire ugly weird dapple crapples. Her baby Cadell was beautiful and flawless, but I could not live with the mare’s bad paint job. I sent her and her baby back for a replacement set, the first time I ever did a merchandise exchange on a Breyer. The new set came; I looked them over and packed them back up. I was still undecided on whether or not I liked the mare. I was leaning towards not liking her enough to not get another on that mold. Fast forward to this pony mare chosen to be in the holiday playset.
Enter Snickerdoodle. She is the quintessential palomino pony with her four socks, star, and snip. Her coat is a beautiful caramel-honey shade, and not Cheeto-ish at all:
Close ups of her head, and I am digging her elastic green halter as I think it looks nice with her coat color:
Included in the play set was a doll, whom I think I shall name Linda Blair since she arrived like this:
Her pajama top is pretty nifty because it has PC Fireheart on it:
She also came with two Christmas stockings, which have become next level Uggs:
The pony all dressed up in her finery:

Overall, I’m smitten the Pony, who needs a proper name. The set is priced at $59.99, which is steep. Breyer has both an english and western set priced at $29.99 each. When I bought the Holiday Pony Playset, I didn’t know the prices of the other sets as I had no interest in them (and still don’t). The sets include a Classic/Freedom series horse, a doll, bridle, saddle, and saddle pad. Here are photos of the western and english sets:
One would think that for $59.99 Breyer would have at least given Linda some nice warm slippers to wear with her pajamas instead of those Christmas stockings. I may just have to wrangle some slippers of sorts for her to wear…
